well, a different burglary happening in san francisco, another smash and grab in the city. the police say that the silver pickup truck was used in the latest break-in. it happened in a high end store in the nob hill neighborhood. there have been five other smash and grab burglaries like this one in san francisco in recent months. police have not said if they are connected. the san francisco police chief will meet with the community monday after last night's deadly police shooting. they say that the man was trying to rob the victim at knife point. it happened near folsom and first street. they saw the man with the robbery attempt, and they open d fired fire when the man refused to drop the knife. the big money makeover of the dolores park was put on hold today. extra equipment and worker were

security. and now a breakthrough in breast cancer. a new therapy developed right here in the bay area is to prolong patients' lives by 16 months. doctors say it is unprecedented. this is ian kole. >> michelle avry was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013. the doctors said that her cancer was aggressive and spreading quickly. >> i had cancer through the spine and the hipbones. i had too many liver lesions to be able to count. >> reporter: her doctors elect pord the treatment found to be successful for women with incurable positive cancer and avry was overwhelmed. >> and then to learn that for the rest of your life, every three weeks, you will have to do the infusions and i thought, oh, my gosh who could do that? but it is okay. >> and instead of using just chemotherapy, the doctors added two more drugs.

and when this method was tested in the clinical trials it expanded the person's life expek tan expeck and the si for a year. >> this is the disokof ri that is unprecedented and we don't see anything like this. >> reporter: and it is uncommon, because most of the drugs will add a few month, and most of the patients given the cocktail will live nearly five years compared to the life span of two to three years. >> there are women who will be treated with this therapy who will never relapse. the disease will be controlled forever. in other words, an incurable disease in some dipatients will be curable. >> and the therapy is not new to most doctors, but the clinical trial is and the findings were pub published in the new england journal of science. >> it is really amazing.
